The story of how Hill and Sam acquired their company through search is a story of longtime friendship and paths that always seem to find a way to cross and connect, despite different experiences a world apart.
Why we invested in Hill and Sam
After college, Hill's path led him to join the military, while Sam pursued a career in finance — but they ended up enrolled in the same business school at the same time. Some of Hill's friends were pursuing the search fund path, and Sam was seeking more of an operations-type role. Together, their years of combined professional experience (not to mention their shared history) made them promising candidates for a partner search. They also checked a lot of boxes when it came to the many soft skills that every entrepreneur needs in order to excel: communication, leadership, and team coordination, to name a few.
Why Hill and Sam invested in us
As undergraduate students, Hill and Sam were on the same football team together, lived together, and even worked together. Who would have thought that their first business venture, a pig roast on campus, would lead to starting a search fund several years later? Starting a search fund with Pacific Lake was exactly the type of leadership responsibility they were looking for at this point in their lives. Both agreed on wanting to leave a lasting impact within a company and lead for an extended period of time. These two CEOs hold similar values and agree that search was an opportunity to both deepen their friendship and continue to build their partnership.
